The LIT - Leibniz Institute for Immunotherapy (foundation under civil law) (https://lit.eu/) – is a biomedical research center focusing on translational immunology in the fields of cancer immunotherapy, transplant rejection and autoimmunity. The objective of the LIT is to develop innovative and efficient cellular immune therapeutics in these areas. The Immune Monitoring Facility is recruiting a highly motivated
(full time, 40.1 hours per week)
The position is initially limited to two years with the possibility of extension.
The Immune Monitoring Facility provides various immunological analysis techniques, both cellular and molecular, for the characterization of the frequency, phenotype, and function of immune cells through all phases of a clinical study - from the initial idea to its completion. The facility has a strong translational focus on novel cell therapy studies, particularly those using CAR- and TCR-genetically modified T cells. In this context, the laboratory employs GLP/GCP-compliant procedures for sample collection, cryopreservation, and storage but also Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and validated analytical platforms for patient sample analysis in clinical trials. These include multi-parametric flow cytometry, functional T cell assays, cytokine release readouts, real-time qPCR, advanced single-cell genomic approaches and in situ single-cell protein expression analysis.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development, optimization, and standardization of these methodologies and their application for sample analysis to support ongoing and future clinical studies.
Your tasks include, but are not limited to:
Design, perform, analyze and interpret established immunomonitoring assays on experimental and clinical samples
Establish, optimize, standardize and validate immunomonitoring assays and workflows
Set up and implement new technologies and assays
Contribute to quality management, assay validation, SOPs, and accreditation-related activities and documentation
Train and provide guidance to technicians and junior colleagues
Collaborate with technicians, researchers and clinicians in an interdisciplinary environment
Contribute to presentations, scientific reports, manuscript preparation and grant applications
The ideal candidate possesses:
PhD in Immunology, Biomedical Sciences, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or a closely related discipline.
Strong background in Immunology and T cell biology.
Proven hands-on experience with advanced multicolor flow cytometry, including panel design, sample preparation, manual compensation, data analysis, interpretation and visualization.
Experience in T-cell functional assays (antigen-specific stimulation, cytotoxicity assays) and cytokine secretion analysis (ELISA).
Advanced command of molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA isolation, real-time qPCR)
Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
Focus on precise protocol implementation and high-quality data generation.
High self-motivation with an intrinsic service mentality, a collaborative attitude and the drive to advance the translational pipeline of the institute.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
Interest in working in an interdisciplinary and international environment
Experience with FACS sorting, single-cell sequencing or Immunofluorescence and familiarity with quality management systems and assay validation is an advantage.
