The LIT - Leibniz Institute for Immunotherapy (foundation under civil law) (https://lit.eu/) – is a biomedical research center focusing on translational immunology in the fields of cancer immunotherapy, transplant rejection and autoimmunity. The objective of the LIT is to develop innovative and efficient cellular immune therapeutics in these areas. The Flow Cytometry Core Facility is recruiting a highly motivated
(full time, 40.1 hours per week)
The position is initially limited to two years with the possibility of extension.
The Flow Cytometric Cell Analytics and Cell Sorting Core Facility at the LIT offers research groups from the LIT, the University Hospital of Regensburg (UKR), and the University of Regensburg (UR) the opportunity to identify and characterize individual cell populations and to isolate them in a targeted manner, thus making them accessible for further downstream analysis. In addition, the facility offers advice and support for beginners and advanced users on flow cytometry-related questions and problems, such as the selection of appropriate fluorochromes, the creation of staining panels and the optimization of gating strategies.
We are now looking for a highly motivated staff scientist at postdoc level with a passion for flow cytometry, thorough technical expertise in advanced flow cytometry, organizational/administrative skills and a stong service mentality who is excited to enrich our facility. The facility hosts state-of-the art sorters and analyzers. The community of users is highly international and covers a range of scientific topics within and associated with Immunology.
Your tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Operate, monitor and maintain the equipment in the facility (sorters and analyzers), including arriving spectral cytometers
- Train and support users for independent equipment and software usage
- Ensure smooth operation of the facility, including related administrative and organizational responsibilities (e.g. financial administration, bookings, data backup, user compliance etc)
- Consult users in panel design, implementation of new staining techniques, trouble-shooting and data interpretation
- Setting up and implementing new technologies and workflows
The ideal candidate possesses:
- PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or a related biomedical discipline.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with advanced flow cytometry, including independent cell sorting and trouble-shooting.
- Highly skilled & experienced in high-parameter immunophenotyping, including panel design, diverse staining techniques, sample preparation, manual and automated compensation, data analysis, interpretation and visualization.
- Good understanding of the theory behind flow cytometry & related data analysis. Experience with spectral cytometry is an advantage.
- Experience in providing training and user consultation
- Highly self-motivated person with an intrinsic service mentality, a collaborative attitude and the drive to advance the research within the institute
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, ideally also in German
- Interest, and ideally also experience in working in an interdisciplinary and international environment
